I stopped chasing happiness. Now I strive for peace.
Happiness is fleeting, and not in your control. Wins and highs can only ever last so long. Change and lows are inevitable to come.
Peace is in my hands. It can be practiced.
Peace is acceptance of the limited control we have over what’s around us, and the infinite power to shape and store meanings on the inside.
Peace is a choice to carry a tiny spark of hope in my eyes, as heavy as it sometimes might be.
Peace is a choice that these big curious eyes of mine, despite often being blind to the wonders of this life, this day, and this me, will at the end of the day, see clearly, and nothing less, but the most important of it all.
Peace is a choice that this young, weak heart, so easily broken in half by seemingly trivial moments and passengers, is indeed, the strongest of all.
Peace is a choice that despite how loud the world gets, regardless of temptations to give in to the grudge, I choose softness and grace.
Peace is a choice to let that silent truthful companion be my guide, and walk side by side, with a never leaving grip of hands.
Peace is a choice that my path is bright, clear, and open – not despite challenges, doubts, and uncertainties – but because of them.
My cards have been delt,
and my days are numbered,
but moments that offer choices for the better,
aren’t.
